Anna Bober

Anna Bober, age 85 of Toledo, Ohio and formerly of Rossford, Ohio passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Toledo Hospital. She was born on November 15, 1926 in The Ukraine to Michael and Kateryna Wloch. After coming to the United States in 1950, one way Anna shared her Ukrainian heritage with others was through her cooking and baking. The traditional Ukrainian specialties she prepared such as holubchi and perohy became legendary with not only her family, but also with many of their friends who all came to know her as "Baba". In addition to raising her family and caring for her parents when they became ill, Anna was an exceptionally talented seamstress who worked many years for Bruce Roberts Interiors. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who unselfishly devoted her life to helping her family so they could have a better life. No mother ever did more for her family. Anna was a former member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rossford and St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Florida, where she had resided for many years.

Surviving are her son, Bohdan (Nancy) Bober; daughter, Dianne DeRan; grandchildren, David Bober, MacKenzie DeRan, Ian DeRan, Barry DeRan and her daughter's dachshund Otto who brought her so much joy. Also surviving is a sister in-law in Chicago and 4 sisters in-law in Ukraine.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Bober and brother, Slawko Wloch.

Services will be private. Family and friends are invited to A Celebration of Anna’s Life being held at Le Petit Gourmet, 6546 Weatherfield Ct, Maumee, OH, 43537 on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 2 to 5 PM.
